Why contact Mr Expert?
Mr Expert offers an independent expertise in the appraisal or sale of your items.
Contacting us is completely free. It is only upon sale of your artwork that the vendor will pay for our service in the form of a commission calculated on a percentage of the selling price. That way, your interest to sell your objects at the higher price possible, is also our interest.
How does our service help you make money?
In addition to guaranteeing you an optimal sale price, our network of partners allows us to offer you a discount of up to 80% on the typical sales costs of the largest auction houses in France and abroad.
We offer you privileged access to the hidden market (investors, collectors, galleries, merchants). It is generally accepted that public sales (auction houses for example) represent only 20% of the turnover generated by the art market. Mr Expert gives you access to the private sale market and allows you to enjoy its benefits: removal of sales charges, settlement in a few days and discretion.
The Mr Expert team will advise you of the best choice between auction and private sale.
The advantages of our support in the context of an auction
Free service: we are paid upon the auction house fees
Reduction of the selling fees: we negotiate the vendor fees with the auction houses on your behalf
Valuation and reserve price optimisation: appraisals can sometimes vary from one auction house to another for the same work. Is setting a low, or ‘attractive’ reserve as to attract a maximum of potential buyers, who once they enter the bidding may be tempted to bid ever more than they intended, the correct strategy? Or on the other hand, will it leave bidders with the impression that they are overpaying and therefore they will stop bidding faster. Is it better to set a “high” reserve because there is possibly only one buyer in the market? To all these questions, we provide an appropriate answer.
Obtaining a sale guarantee in case the item is not sold: our teams can negotiate on demand a guarantee of sale. Even if the item is not sold, the auction house or a third party undertakes to buy your work(s) at a price within the estimate range.
Negotiation of an advance on sale: the average settlement/payment times of auction houses is 35 days after the sale. We may, in certain circumstances, allow you to obtain a cash advance payment even before the day of the sale.
Choice of premises: internationally recognized artists sell in New York, London, Paris and Hong Kong. Each destination has its specificities and according to your situation, we determine which at which location will achieve the optimum sale price.
Choice of the date of sale: an exhibition of the artist in an institution can sometimes be the right time to sell a work. Just as building a museum or creating a foundation often increases the demand for art in the market as the institution searches for works. We keep up to date with all the latest news in the art world to make sure you present you piece for sale at the best possible moment when demand is at its highest.
Collections or objects promotion: whether it’s the cover page of the catalogue of the sale, a double illustrated page, a video, an article on the internet, a publication in the flagship lots or an exhibition of the work before the sale, we will help you to market your piece and collectibles in any manner you wish.
The benefits of our support in a private sale
Free service: the costs of sale are borne by the purchaser.
Negotiation for a sale at market price: a private sale allows for a cash purchase of your works of art at the market price. We negotiate directly with the end buyer to get a firm offer at the best price for your items.
Management of logistics and paperwork: our experts accompany you throughout the process of selling your works (transportation, meeting potential buyers, drawing up contracts for sale, applying for a passport with the Ministry of Culture for the export of your works, etc.).
Confidential and fast transactions: each transaction is private with no public communication being made about the sale. Payment is also made in cash.
The Mr Expert spirit
Attentiveness: our approach favours adaptability and proximity in order to build a personalized response. Our value proposition also relies on experienced art and negotiation experts to best meet your demands.
Rigor: providing objective, exhaustive and independent expertise is one of Mr Expert’s principles.
Expertise: taking into account developments in the art market in France and abroad to accurately appraise each work of art and accompany our customers in the context of the sale of their works
